Shopify Store : Insights and Strategies for success
From UX/UI to Marketing Automation to customize Theme
Increase Average Order Value
Buy now, pay later (BNPL)
Buy now, pay later is a payment system that allows customers to purchase items now and pay for them later, usually within a set period of time. BNPL services typically offer customers a way to spread the cost of their purchase over a set period of time, often with no interest or fees. Shopify's Shop Pay Installments offers a robust BNPL service.
Image Hotspots
Hotspot sections are great for showing your products styled (like furniture in a room, or jewelry layered on a model) to increase AOV. It gives you the showroom vibes when your visitors walked into a physical store.
Image Hotspots make your images more interesting and encourage visitors to stay longer on your online store. They also enable visitors to access more content without having to navigate to a new page, which minimizes the bounce rate. Adding a layer of playful UX is a great way to increase website conversion rates and really make them stand out!
Here is a hot spot section (those red arrows I put in the screenshots) of Christmas Gift Guide on a Shopify store. Consider creating one for your Shopify Store or checkout Archetype Themes.

Solution to Cart Abandonment 🛒
A 2019 studies show that the average cart abandonment rate across all industries was a whopping 69.57%. Here how not to leave money on the table
Place a test order on your site with a live payment gateway to catch errors and remove friction at checkout*
Display an Estimated Delivery Date for shipping options at checkout. This gives shoppers a clear understanding of when they can expect their purchases, and helps you prevent abandoned carts.
Incentivize shoppers with free shipping based on the conditions you set. Adding a message to the checkout to tell customers how much more they need to spend to get free shipping.
Out of Stock: have a Pre-Order button so as to establish customer intent. Ask for a downpayment and you might have some capital to source for the stock.

Upgrade to Shopify Online Store 2.0 Themes
One of the key features of Shopify 2.0 themes is support for metafields. Metafields are custom fields that you can add to products, collections, pages, and other Shopify resources. This allows you to store additional information about your products and store, which you can then use to personalize your storefront experience. Metafields offers creative and interesting ways that empower merchants to personalize each page of their storefront that unlock new functionality and opportunities for merchants. Instead of hunting for that elusive Shopify theme that covers it all, Metafields gives you the mean to craft that unique Shopify product description that will sell.

Automate mundane tasks with Shopify Flow
Shopify Flow is a no-code (unless you want to) ecommerce automation tool that helps you as a merchants cut down on manual tasks, process.
According to Shopify, some of the common fulfillment tasks flows that merchants use are:
Hold fulfillment based on risk level: Where high risk orders are automatically identified and put on hold.
Hold orders if customer placed more than 1 order in the last 24 hours: Where orders shipping to the same address are put on hold, so they can be managed, fulfilled and shipped together, saving you time and reducing the cost of shipping.
Send fulfillment request for paid orders that use a specified fulfillment service: For merchants working with third-party-logistic providers, you can automatically assign a fulfillment to that 3PL.
Add order tag with assigned fulfillment location: To keep orders more organized by automatically tagging the order with the fulfillment location that the order has been assigned to, making it easy for the fulfillment workers at that location to see the orders they need to fulfill that day.
Speed up your Shopify Store
Shopify themes are fast out of the box, but Liquid Code (template language created by Shopify) changes made afterward by your developers or staffs can cause slowdowns.
To identify the Liquid code that is slowing down your Shopify store, an add-on named Shopify Theme Inspector for Chrome, can be used to retrieve a detailed analysis render profiling. This tool helps to highlight which files are causing the most significant delay.
The beauty of this is only the owner or those managing the Shopify store with access can view the details of the diagnostic. The Chrome addon requires you to log in to your own Shopify store.
Below is a development store to which I have access and am thus able to view the Liquid profile flame graph.
I am proponent of using Shopify out-of-the box core functions and features. Using HTML/CSS and Liquid Template as far as possible. For 3rd-party app, I am more judicious as external 3rd-party app can add the store speed loading time.
Shopify Carrier Service API
The Carrier Service API (also called the Carrier-calculated shipping) is a Shopify feature that allows 3rd-apps to generate rates within your checkout.
The Carrier Service API is required if you want to show the customer only the rates that are related to the checkout method.
- When Store Pickup is selected, only show the store pickup rate
- When Local Delivery is selected, only show local delivery rates
- When Shipping is selected, only show shipping rates
The availability of the Carrier Service API feature depends on the Shopify plan you are on.
When switching to a paid Shopify plan, ensure that your Shopify plan includes access to the Carrier Service API.
Shopify with Google Analytics 4
Shopify offers out-of-the-box integration with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via Google Channel Apps.
The limitation of the Google Channel App is client-side tracking — which means all the events to Google are sent from the customer's browser.
In an age when browsers and ad blockers limit tracking, this isn’t a reliable way to attribute sales to marketing campaigns.
If you are seeking a better and more robust way to attribute for your Shopify Store, please message me.
